Chuck Berry! Need I say more??? Thank you, unclerussie, for the info about the leading man in this movie. He wrote some beautiful songs! Reviewer: tbragg - favorite favorite favorite - February 16, Subject: Charming, but not really that great musicwise I take nothing from this rock movie as historical document, but most of the songs are pretty wretched.
This is early days in rock and the songs are pretty derivative--the slow songs are about divine angels and the fast songs are about rock-rock-rock, roll-roll-roll, boogie and daddy-o. Most songs are trying to sound like an earlier song that was a hit. However much fun it is to see these acts, don't expect good material.
The story, on the other hand, I find to be charming 50s Americana. Girl schemes against girl for boy's affection a la classic sit-coms--and I didn't find it badly acted at all. I wasn't expecting Sunset Boulevard. Tuesday is a cutie and is surely the star, but I found everyone in it pretty likable.

Loved seeing his now vintage Les Paul. Not all great acts, but some great guitars. Reviewer: primsue - favorite favorite favorite - August 22, Subject: Roll, Roll, Roll I must say it was real hard for me to get past Tuesday lip sinking Connie Francis' songs. I love Tuesday Weld, but for a movie like this they should have chosen a teen that could sing. I enjoyed the singing and the plot was okay so it was a nice look into the past. Boy Tuesday Weld was only 13 when she made this movie.
Frankie Lymon is always a pleasure to watch. It doesn't matter that the songs are lip synced. Footage of some of these acts is quite hard to find Even with the few who appeared on TV usually local as opposed to network occasionally, a lot of it wasn't recorded for future generations to watch. Not all the acts are wonderful I honestly could live without seeing than extremely young "kid" novelty act again , but most are all-time legends. Reviewer: unclerussie - favorite favorite favorite favorite favorite - March 3, Subject: Teddy Randazzo The male lead in this film is my friend, the late and great Teddy Randazzo.
In one scene, a girl the bad one delivers her lines while sitting in a black and white Olds convertible. Teddy told me that was his car in real life. Teddy was a great guy and a wonderful friend is sorely missed. He went on to do another Alan Freed film, "Mr. Rock and Roll". Teddy also served as producer for these records. He wrote for just about everybody, including Frank Sinatra and Jerry Vale. Reviewer: Columboy - favorite favorite favorite favorite - March 2, Subject: Nice!
