Airoh trials helmet review

It is definitely a very well build lid, full of accessories, with excellent details, one among many, the interiors: plushy, silky, well done. Overall, at least on paper, probably better than the Commander. Medium size, tested myself on the scale. You can feel it right away holding it in hand, and wearing it. I come from a full face motocross HJC helmet gr.. The Commander, tested at the shop, does not. Plus, the Nexx compresses a bit the forehead.

Something the Commander does not, at least for 5 minutes in the shop. It shares duties with my Shoei Ex-Zero, which is even lighter and just as comfy.

Matteo, I tried the Nexx too, but it was just too heavy and gave me a horrible pressure-point headache. Same complaints as yours! I finally, sent back the X-Wed and go a Airoh Commander. It fits my head like a glove, so it must be definately a long oval shape or similar. I pur it on a scale, and my Medium was avout gr, as from the specs. I guess the ventilation on the forehead, sides and head in general, is poor.

On the X-Wed I could clearly feel the air coming in on top of my head. On the chin is perfect, though. I have a regular, pretty this headphones from Cardo. Hi, nice review. Three questions: 1. Can offroad goggles be worn with the face shield in the raised position? How is the helmet holding up? Was your Hornet Adv the latest version it supposedly weighs around grams? How would you compare the ventilation of the Airoh and Shoei?

Hey there Jim. If you remove the face shield entirely, any size of MX goggles should fit nicely. So for the Airoh Terminator, which I use primarily for dirtbike riding, it is an obvious test. We ride offroad usually in Ulu Choh, Johor. And it is hot as hell. Like a convection oven.

You get the heat from the skies as there is sparse vegetation and you get heat reflected from the red earth. So it must be alright! Everything about it screams ultra lux. We know of a lot of helmets in many segments of price points but this one really stands out. It feels like a usual European long oval side of round.

Airoh is probably striving for a neutral middle ground that will fit the most head shapes possible. It does feel comfortable for my round-ish head shape but it does feel slightly tight at the sides and cheeks, which means that it should fit most round oval head shapes also.

Also, the helmet sizing runs about right. I wear an M for most helmets, occasionally straying to Ls. The liner does feel very lightweight and functional. Thin but firmly comfortable. Not plush, like your usual touring helmets but lightweight. For racing. If you want to be like the masses, or if prestige is high on your list, go for your usual Arais or Shoeis. And those are the ones that I use frequently, and not just the ones I have gotten rid of!

The paint on this one is superb, with a very high polish and not a micron of orange peel or any other flaws that I can see. As their top-of-the-line helmet, Airoh really went all-out on the Aviator, no doubt about it. Where the Airoh J and TR-1 are quirky, the Aviator is angular, modern and with several leading-edge features. But the best part is the hand-laid, axial carbon fiber and Kevlar shell that comes in three different sizes, covering a head size range of XS to XL.

Each Aviator is hand made in Italy with each layer of carbon fiber cloth placed cross-wise for added strength. The ultra light weight and solid feel are also a plus. See the Summary Table at the bottom of the page for a description of our rating system. The Aviator has a neutral to slightly narrow profile, which seems to be the evolving European helmet fit standard recently.

The size XL Aviator is listed as a 61 cm. It does feel just a touch roomy at the top on my I think it has an internal profile very much like the new Arai Signet-Q review or perhaps even the popular Shoei RF review , although the XL Aviator fits more like a size large in either of those helmets. Head sizes from around The padding, while not as plush as some, is perfectly comfortable.

The cheek pads also have emergency release tabs for quick removal in case you hit that berm with the front wheel first…. The liner has a very nice appearance and everything fits and feels good. The slightly narrow sides of the helmet make a bit of a tight fit for my new Randolph Engineering Aviator review eyeglasses, but it works. I can fit my admittedly very large Scott 87 OTG goggles review , which are designed to fit over eyeglasses, but the helmet works better with a standard i.

So if an off-road helmet eye port fits these, it will probably fit any other goggle type. The proportional shell size of the Aviator means that the peripheral vision is optimized and even with the big Scott goggles, I still feel like the helmet provides about average visibility, compared to a full-face helmet.

The Aviator has an angular look in the modern idiom and the pointy bits are covered or protected with either hard plastic or hard rubber edging. This is probably due to the more proportional shell dimensions of the Aviator. Making three separate shell sizes for a somewhat limited head size range that runs from XS to XL only is the secret to that proportionality…and also to light weight. The Aviator peak is an interesting design; it comes with a small black plastic tip that is attached with two flat head hex screws on either side.

You can remove the tip to shorten the peak, or install the longer peak that comes with the helmet photo below , which gives you three different choices for peak length. The peak is adjustable but only through a limited range. I moved mine to the lowest position for mostly street riding and it works well. Very light. The strap is long enough, but I had to let it most of the way out to fit my fat face.

I like it, but I'm very glad I didn't spend what the US vendors wanted for it. BEEF , Jul 12, I have an oval head too, more like a hatchet maybe and I bought the Airoh, Ebergreen, their entry level.

I don't think it was much over The round ones gave me a head ache, but I love this one. I am thinking about an upgrade, I put on the Airoh TRR at our event last weekend and for me that is the one.

Just have to count my pennies now. The head shape seems to me to be just as good as the TRR for my oval head and I like the fit over my ears much better as my head seems to also be a bit tall for the TTR. I knew the sizing ran small so I went up one size from their chart but it's just not as good of a fit from top to bottom as the Hebo and so the Hebo seems better for for my tall and oval head.

DyrWolf , Jul 24, Ordered a Jitsie today. Hope it fit my big head ok. I got the Jitsie HT1 Blitz in XL, 61 to 64 cm, have a 60 circumference, seems to fit fine , a bit loose, but not too loose, but that is what I was going for.

Was wearing a light weight snowboard helmet, before this. The HT1 is not heavy at all. I am sweating less in it. It is more quiet, as there is more padding around the ears. Would buy another. The HT2 is 2. Maybe use it at the snow mountain. Greebe , Aug 6, I have not ordered yet.
