Well sort of. It was the scene where Mufasa was climbing up the rocks after saving Simba from the stampede. But then something different happened. It cut to Simba staring at his dad struggling to climb up the canyon.
Sobbing realistically. He then stopped suddenly, and turned his face toward the screen. His eyes were empty, emotionless as he stared at me. Then he stood up and walked forward. The camera angle switched to behind him and revealed what he was walking to. The edge. The cliff. What is this?! I could only watch in horror as he just walked off the cliff, to the stampede below. He saw it. He saw Simba fall to his death. His eyes were filled with tears and he looked up at his brother, Scar, grinning down at him.
His eyes glowing an odd red and his paws dripping with blood. Then it showed Scar laughing, his face slowly morphing into a hideous skull, pieces of flesh clinging to it. His eyes started to drip blood as the screen faded black around the skull. Once again I found myself running from the room. This time in hysterics. If I thought I was trembling before then this was my own personal earthquake.
In the bathroom I ended up vomiting into the toilet. How did that game just say my name?! Not right! But I was the adult in this house at the time. It was up to me to go back into that room and turn that demonic game OFF! So I stomped into my bedroom angrily. I glared toward the screen and noticed that Scar was gone.
Very normal looking. It even had the appropriate sound for the game. Once again, curiosity got the better of me and I dismissed the movie clip as my imagination getting the better of me. So I continued to play the level. I was stupid, I know that now. I was the type who craves scary things.
Loved them. So I played the game with a cautious but curious attitude. I was just waiting for something else strange to happen. Not hoping for it like before, more like watching a video online and waiting for the screamer.
The level was perfectly normal. I knew it was coming, but I still jumped when it happened. Something freaky.
It was like the game was locked up except he was moving. Not running like I wanted him to, but shaking his head, over and over and over again.
As if he was trying to shake the bad thoughts from his head. Then suddenly, he looked straight ahead, then fell to the ground. Like he passed out only his eyes rolled out of his head and across the green jungle grass. Then the image twisted in on itself and faded to black. Then abruptly it switched directly to the next level, skipping Hakuna Matata completely. It would only seem fitting that a game as dark as this skip the happiest level.
So now Simba is an adult. This was the level representing him going at night to see Rafiki. As an adult he had his new powers of slashing and mauling. I mentioned before the brief, mild violence that normally was in the Adult Simba levels. Well, this was much, much worse. When Simba mauled a leopard, the leopard was ripped to pieces, and its body was left in a bloody mess, in pieces piled on top of each other.
Each one he killed off was murdered in the same merciless, violent way. I should have known something like that was coming. Then at the end when he found Rafiki at the pool of water and Mufasa appeared in the sky, Simba started shaking. Not randomly but in a pattern. And sobbed sounded in beat to the shakes. As in the movie, follow Simba's journey from a clueless cub to a graceful King of the jungle. The levels are even more diverse than the previous games; roaring at other animals and avoiding the stampede are but two possibilities in this outstanding game.

The Lion King looks like a million bucks. The reason for this is that the game was actually designed with animators from Disney.
This gives the game a very colorful and special kind of look. The way that Simba and the other characters move is pretty amazing. This is especially true for the sections when Simba is a cub. Watching him scramble to get up on a platform looks amazing.
I really think that the animators outdid themselves here. The game captures the look and feel of the movie very well. As well as looking great, The Lion King also sounds great. There are also some very high-quality voice samples from the movie too. As far as the gameplay of The Lion King for PC goes, I do not think there is anyone who will say that this is a better game than Aladdin which came before it. The Lion King is a very, very challenging game. It can be brutally tough and not always in a fair way.
That is because the collision detection can sometimes be a little off and on the second level where you have to jump from hippo tail to hippo tail it can be very frustrating. One cool thing that the game does have is variety. It follows the plot of the movie pretty well, hitting all of the major scenes. It is cool how cub Simba and adult Simba play differently and this along with the bonus Timon and Pumba stages do keep the gameplay from getting stale.
The problem most people will have is getting past that second stage as cub Simba. Do not let the upbeat music and super bright visuals fool you that stage is a monster! This was hard back when it was released in and it is still very hard now. Still, it is beatable, but it takes a great deal of practice. I would bet that many people who played this back in never got past that second stage!

In this hop-n-bop game, Simba uses a few simple but effective moves as a cub-a pounce, roar, and roil. As an adult lion, he can also slash his enemies with his paw.
The controls are precise and easy to master. All are one-button moves, except for the adult slash attack. Lion King's graphics are Disney quality. Despite the itty-bitty size of Simba's sprite, his moves and animations are great for a handheld game. The beautifully drawn backgrounds in each level include great detail, like the elephant bones in the graveyard. Some clever compromises from the Genesis version, like the side-view Wildebeest Stampede, work well within the confines of the Game Gear.
You can't expect stereoquality tunes on a Game Gear, but Lion King's tunes are surprisingly hummable. Ten to one you still get tired of'em, though-that tinny music gets old even if you do like the songs. All in all, Lion King's a great Game Gear cart. Ten levels of play is more than the average Game Gear fare, and the game's challenge ramps up gradually, making it just fine for a range of players.

The gameplay is very smooth and is kept nice and simple throughout. As mentioned, you control Simba who can jump, climb, roar, tumble and later use his claws. In the beginning of Lion King, he is a mere cub and he can only defeat enemies by jumping on them in a very Mario-esque way; some enemies are more tricky, like hedgehogs, and you must use your roar to knock them on their backs before you can jump on them.
